Terms of use
The conditions for using CompareSignatures.com. By uploading images or using a report you agree to them.

The service
CompareSignatures.com, operated by Compare Signatures, compares two signature images with automated measurements and produces an indicative report. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service at any time.
What the report is, and is not
- The report is decision support. It is not a forensic examination, an expert opinion, or legal, financial or professional advice.
- The result depends on the images supplied. Poor quality, cropping, compression and natural variation in a person's signature all affect it, and a skilled forgery may not be detected from images.
- Do not rely on a report alone to accept or reject a document, accuse anyone, or make a decision with legal or financial consequences. Have the original documents examined by a qualified forensic document examiner.
Your responsibilities
- Upload only images you are authorised to process, and process them lawfully, including under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. You are responsible for having a lawful basis, such as consent from the person who signed.
- Do not upload unlawful material, malware, or files you have no right to use.
- Do not try to bypass rate limits or security controls, probe or overload the service, or access reports that are not yours.
- Keep report links confidential. Anyone with a link can open that report.
Intellectual property
The software, design and wording of this website belong to Compare Signatures or its licensors. You keep all rights in the images you upload and may use the reports produced for your own lawful purposes.
Liability
The service is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, Compare Signatures is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, the service or a report, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other law that cannot be limited by agreement.
You indemnify Compare Signatures against claims that arise from images you upload without authorisation or from your unlawful use of the service.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Questions about these terms are welcome on the contact page.
